With our variable rate SmartFlex kW plan, you get the flexibility you need, while also being more eco-friendly. Your variable rate may adjust monthly based on market conditions, and if you are not completely satisfied, you’re free to switch. Plus, with this product, you can choose to be completely paperless! All customers receive their monthly bill electronically by default – which means less clutter and a better environment.
For Chuden residential customers, 1kW-49kW
- Monthly Base Charge plus the following:
- Tier 1: 0-120 kWh
- Tier 2: 121-300 kWh
- Tier 3: 301 kWh or more
- Rate varies monthly based on market conditions
Your monthly effective rate will correspond to the service period of your bill.

*The kW plan’s monthly base charge is calculated based upon your highest measured kW value over the last 12 months, on a rolling basis. For customers who do not yet have 12 months of kW values available, the calculation will be based upon your highest measured kW value to date.

By default, this product is completely paperless. All correspondence and billing will be sent electronically. Customers may choose a paper billing option for their individual account (108 yen / month). Payment will be accepted by ACH, credit card, debit card, Pay -Easy Payment and Konbini online type or Konbini payment slip* (issuance fee of 216 yen (tax included) per month).
*Before you can use Konbini store payment slip as a payment method, we require you to register your credit card information. In the event that payment cannot be confirmed by the due date, we will charge the unpaid balance to the registered credit card one week after the expiration date of the convenience store payment slip.
Please note: If payment cannot be confirmed by the due date on the convenience store payment slip, we will change your monthly payment method to recurring credit card payment for subsequent payments. If you would like to change your payment method, please visit MyXOOM Account.
Your total charges will include the Base Charge, Kilowatt hour charge, Energy Cost Adjustment, Renewable Energy Charge and other pertinent charges. Please note that the total charges include sales tax.

Energy Cost Adjustment (ECA)
The Energy Cost Adjustment (ECA) is generally the same rate as or similar rate to, subject to market conditions, the EPCO Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA). The FCA calculation can be found here.
Renewable Energy Charge (REC)
The Renewable Energy Charge is the same rate as what would be charged by your default EPCO. The REC calculation can be found here.
